How can I get free publicity for my bar?
Tomorrow is National Haiku Poetry Day! A haiku is a very short poem that originated in 17th century Japan.
"What does this have to do with my bar?!?", you may ask?
You can easily get your customers to write their own short poems about how much they love your bar, so you can display them. The best publicity is often from your own customers.
How to Write a Haiku:
A haiku consists of 17 syllables and 3 lines.
The first line contains 5 syllables, the second line contains 7, and the third contains the remaining 5 syllables. It’s as simple as that!
How to Get Customers Writing:
-- Have your staff write a haiku and hang in a high traffic area of your bar.
-- Set up a small sign on the bar with a sample haiku like this one:
Happy Haiku Day!
Write a poem about our bar,
So we can display!
Feel free to use this haiku. Also, be sure to include directions for how to write a haiku on your sign. Leave out a stack of paper and a container of pens or markers for customers to write with and encourage them to sign their name.
-- Make sure your staff are encouraging customers to write a poem.
This activity is great year-round, not just on National Haiku Day because it’s so easy to do. Not only do your customers get to be creative, but they also are giving you free positive publicity!
